Why Customer Reviews Are A Business’s Most Important PR Tool

In the three years it’s been open for business, Windy Hill Wedding & Event Barn in Simpsonville has received dozens of excellent reviews.

“It makes us feel great when customers take the time to leave a review. What they experience on one of the biggest days of their lives is extremely important to us,” manager Lauren Burns said.

For Burns, customer reviews are more than an acknowledgment of a job well done.  They allow her to take her already-successful business to the next level.

“One bride wrote, ‘They let us come in earlier than normal to set up.’ It’s helpful to us as a business to know what the customer wants,” Burns said.

One study found that 97-percent of online shoppers check customer reviews before making a buying-decision, while 92-percent hesitate to make a purchase if there are no reviews at all.

For Windy Hill Wedding & Event Barn, online reviews are a valuable public relations tool.

“A lot of brides call and say, ‘I see you have great reviews.’ For a small business like us, that’s worth more than any paid advertisement,” Burns said.

Brides aren’t the only ones who leave positive reviews about Windy Hill. Upstate businesses have become big fans of the venue located just 16 miles from downtown Greenville.

“We had an amazing day at Windy Hill for our work conference today,” one reviewer wrote. “This venue is amazing and has such a warm and charming setting. Tables and chairs are included and the owners made it so easy to plan and execute our corporate event! This beats a stuffy hotel conference room any day!”

Burns said the key to receiving excellent reviews from customers is to make sure their needs are met from the beginning of the process to the end.

“It’s important to be involved,” Burns said. “As a small business, we’re able to give one-on-one attention to our customers and it shows in our reviews.”
