$500 prize for best 1920s costume up for grabs
For one magical night, the Upstate venue known mostly for traditional bridal fashion will travel back to a time of flapper dresses, linen suits and straw hats.
“I’m a huge fan of The Great Gatsby,” said Lauren Burns, manager of Windy Hill Wedding & Event Barn. “It’s why so we’re excited to ring in the New Year with a Great Gatsby-themed celebration!”
Burns said couples attending Windy Hill’s first-ever New Year’s Eve bash will be in for an unforgettable evening of dinner, music and dancing.
“The Roaring 20s were a time of tremendous prosperity in this country. And for Jay Gatsby, the title character in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 novel, it was also a time for extravagant parties. We plan to tap into that vibe,” Burns said.
Ticket prices range from $50 to $125. Higher-priced packages include dinner, dancing and drinks, including beer and wine.
Burns said the event will also be a showcase for local fashion boutiques. She said $500 will be awarded to the best dressed couple that evening.
“There aren’t many places in town where you can dress up in a nostalgic, yet fashionable way and stand a chance of winning $500,” Burns said.
The event is limited to 200 people. To purchase your tickets for The Great Gatsby New Year’s Eve Celebration on Tuesday, December 31, visit Windy Hill’s Eventbrite page here.
