A peek at the hard work that goes into setting up for a wedding

It’s the part of weddings you don’t see: lawnmowers buzzing, vacuum-cleaners vacuuming, and tables and chairs being shuffled—again!

“Setting up inside Windy Hill Wedding & Event Barn is different every week,” said manager Lauren Burns.

She’s not kidding. Chairs are constantly being moved from one side of the 10-plus acre property to the other. There are 200 chairs inside and 200 outside that must be perfectly placed for each wedding.

“Many brides will see a photo on Windy Hill’s Instagram page and say, ‘That’s exactly how I want the chairs to be arranged for the ceremony,’” Burns said.

Preparing the barn for the couple and their guests is no small feat either. Every inch of the 4,200 square foot barn must be cleaned after every wedding.

“We want everything to be perfect,” Burns said. “This is the most important day of a couple’s life.”

Even the grass must be mowed once a week to maintain a manicured-look. Since most weddings take place on Saturday, the grounds crew makes it a point to mow on the Thursday before.

“It takes three full days of work to prepare for just one wedding,” Burns said. “On weekends when weddings are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, the workload nearly doubles.”

But that’s all part of the wedding business, and Burns has no plans of slowing down.

“My main goal is to make things just the way the bride wants it,” she said.
